Description
Classes are held from 7:30 am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday
This 15 week (420) hour training course is designed for participants who want to enter the trades as an entry level carpenter. Upon completing the course, the participant will enter the carpentry field as a competent and qualified entry level carpenter. Credentials earned include OSHA 10 certification, NCCER Level 1 and Core Certifications. Through a combination of theory and hands on training, you will receive the experience to prepare you to work on a job site.
Students will learn:
All phases of residential home construction. Basic joinery, layout and print reading, framing, roof construction and covering. Door and window installation. Tool instructions, basic hardware, drywall installation and finishing. Painting exterior, interior and trim. Exterior covering. Basic step layout.
Operate power and hand tools relevant to the carpentry field, Set up the work area safely, Complete basic carpentry tasks and know how to operate related tools and materials. Identify and install various types of fasteners, understand building permits & codes used and required on the job site.
Requirements:
- 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Pass reading and math exam (TABE)
- Pass criminal background check and drug testing
- Transportation
- Registered with Selective Service (Males)
