Description
This program is designed for those working in or desiring employment as a hemodialysis technician in the healthcare field. Students will study the basic requirements for patient care, renal anatomy and physiology, treatment procedures and processes, water treatment, dialyzer reprocessing, ethics and laws governing medical care, and the effect of nutrition and medication on the patient. Students will also be exposed to the equipment and environment used for renal dialysis. Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) exam through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC). This program includes 200 hours of classroom lecture and a potential clinical internship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. Students must qualify for an internship. Tuition includes textbooks, scrubs, background check, drug screen, certification exam, supplies, and internship/clinical lab experience.
Minimum 10.0 grade-level equivalent in Reading required.
