Description
Founded in 2015, Zip Code Wilmington (Zip Code) is a nonprofit software programming training program located in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. With over 700 graduates and nearly 100 local companies who have hired its graduates, Zip Code supports the local economy by providing training to adult learners looking to break into tech careers with local employers. The average salary of a Zip Coder before training is $30,000; the average salary of a Zip Coder after training is $83,000. After two to three years working in the industry, many Zip Coders have the ability to earn $100,000+ in their roles.
The Zip Code Java Software Developer training program is an immersive, full-time, 12-week program that produces Java Software Developers who are then introduced to local employers for placement in direct hire and apprenticeship roles. The program has grant funding to support scholarships and stipends for qualified Delaware residents.
No prior coding experience is required to enter the program. The minimum requirement is to be 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED; however, the average age of its adult learners is 30 years old. The majority of its students have between 3-5 years (avg.) of prior work experience in non-technical roles before entering the program. For example, Zip Coders are former teachers, veterans, customer service representatives, students, accountants, operations specialists, and so many other careers. After Zip Code, they find work in roles such as "Software Developer," "Software Engineer," "Application Developer," and many other entry level software programming roles.
If you are looking to break into tech, consider enrolling at Zip Code Wilmington!
