Description

Paychex is looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our Health and Benefits software engineering team! In this role you will utilize cutting-edge technology, following an Agile software development methodology.

What will you work with?

+ Programming Languages/Tech: .NET, Python, SQL, PL/SQL, Java, JavaScript, Angular,

+ Databases: Oracle, Mongo

+ Messaging: Kafka

+ World-Class data centers supporting private cloud (OpenShift)

+ Continuous Integration, Automation & Testing Tools (git, Jenkins, Gradle, JUnit)

+ Agile principles (Scrum, Kanban) – Jira integrations and automated reporting, scrum master facilitated ceremonies: planning, backlog maintenance, daily stand-ups, demo/retro

What you can expect to do in this role?

+ Design, develop and troubleshoot software programs for systems.

+ Perform basic analysis and design for program changes to gain an understanding of application changes.

+ Provide scoping estimates for development tasks to aid in scheduling. Monitor progress against task estimates and provide status.

+ Complete complex program changes; translate specifications and / or requirements into code.

+ Apply application specific technical skills to independently produce deliverables (i.e. specifications, program changes, unit test scripts, documentation, etc.).

+ Acquire and utilize business knowledge to support applications.

+ Recognize code inefficiencies and make suggestions for improvements.

+ Provide documentation to support program changes.

+ Plan, document, and execute unit test plans to ensure all code changes meet requirements / specifications.

+ Support programming changes during quality assurance, user acceptance testing, and post implementation to ensure integrity of application.

+ Provide troubleshooting and solutions for software defects and production incidents.

+ Comply with and contribute to standards and procedures to ensure development consistency (e.g. programming standards, change management, version control).

Requirements

+ Bachelor’s Degree computer-related discipline or equivalent work experience

+ 3 years’ experience developing in .NET, Java or Python in a professional work setting

+ SQL and PL/SQL

+ Experience with any of the other technologies listed above is a plus!
