Job Description
The Administrative Auditor combines auditing techniques with administrative, supervisory, and operational management to ensure public agencies run efficiently, comply with laws, and safeguard resources.
The Administrative Auditor serves as a vital leader within the Office of the Auditor of Accounts, responsible for directing diverse and complex professional engagement functions to ensure the transparent, efficient, and lawful use of state taxpayer dollars. In this senior-level management role, you will bring advanced experience planning, organizing, and executing multiple complex engagement streams simultaneously within established budgets and strict deadlines.
You will provide strategic oversight to a high-performing audit workforce through a direct-report Engagement Manager (State Auditor IV), leveraging a proven track record in supervising, managing, and mentoring auditors to ensure team accountability, professional development, and high-quality outputs.
This role requires robust, hands-on experience applying GAO Yellow Book (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards), AICPA Attestation Standards, and the Quality Standards for Investigations (QSI), issued by the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) and the ACFE (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners) to safeguard rigorous compliance and professional excellence. As the primary technical authority on these standards, you will enforce strict compliance and quality control across our entire portfolio, ensuring the precise execution of Performance Audits, Examinations, Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUPs), Inspections, Investigations, and Special Reports.
In this role, you will champion the fight against fraud, waste, and abuse by evaluating internal controls as part of internal engagements, monitoring the work of external CPA contractors, and delivering high-impact findings that optimize state government operations.
