Purpose & Role
ShopRite’s Seafood Clerk plays a key role in delivering a great customer experience while maintaining and operating the Seafood Department. Deliver prompt, courteous customer service in the Seafood Department.

Prepare and pack out fresh and frozen seafood following approved procedures.

Maintain product quality, freshness, and proper storage conditions.

Assist customers with seafood selection, preparation, and pricing
Minimum Qualifications

Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.

Ability to handle fresh, dried, and processed seafood, shellfish, spices, and powders without allergic reactions.
- Tolerance for dust and chemical agents during housekeeping.

Basic math skills.

Physical ability to stand/walk for shifts, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform repetitive tasks.

Friendly, helpful customer interaction skills.

Ability to work all assigned schedules and follow time/attendance policies
Essential Job Functions

Greet customers promptly and provide service assistance.

Follow procedures for receiving, code-dating, preparing, storing, price-marking, scaling, and restocking seafood.

Differentiate between seafood types by taste, preparation, use, and pricing.

Control freshness and quality of products.

Handle damaged or spoiled goods per company policy.

Check and report refrigeration equipment issues.

Calculate gross margins and retail prices when needed.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; sanitize surfaces, utensils, and equipment.

Keep floors clear of debris and spills.

Lift and transport merchandise, check prices, and promote promotions
