Paralegal I

Job Description

This is the first level of Paralegal work, with a focus on protecting the State's interests in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings.  The Paralegal establishes and maintains case files, manages correspondence, prepares and files bankruptcy claims, motions and objections, as well as tracks filing deadlines and answers taxpayer phone calls. The Paralegal should be able to identify issues with case files and documentation and be prepared to reach out to auditors and other Revenue staff to gather additional information as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Paralegal I
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in preparing and maintaining legal documents and case files.
  2. Six months experience in data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staff or others.
  3. Six months experience in analyzing and evaluating data.
  4. Knowledge of legal terminology.
