KITCHEN HELPER - REGULAR PART-TIME SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe primary focus of this position is to assist the Kitchen Food Manager in preparing meal trays, serving food, maintaining kitchen work areas in a neat and organized manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This listing is representative of the duties and responsibilities of the position, but is not to be construed as all inclusive:
- Fills individual serving cartons with portions of various foods and condiments such as cream, jams and sauces.
- Serves salads, vegetables, meat and breads; ladles soup and sauces; portions desserts; and fills beverage cups and glasses as indicated.
- Replenishes foods at serving stations.
- Brews coffee and tea.
- Operates heat seal machine.
- Monitor food temperatures using thermometers.
- Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
- Maintains cleanliness of work stations. Washes dishes and workables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks.
- Segregates and removes trash and places it in designated containers.
- Scrubs and polishes counters, steam tables and other equipment.
- Stocks supply room with supplies and food.
- Labels packaging for distribution to homebound seniors.
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the Kitchen Manager or Program Director.

- Must be able to reach with hands and arms; stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of two years kitchen experience.
- Knowledge of and ability to safely operate kitchen equipment such as knives, ovens and dishwashers.
- Ability to follow basic cooking routines.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: Most duties and functions will be performed at CHEER locations.
WORK HOURS: Variable. Monday - Friday 7:30am - 1:30pm.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time (20-29 hours per week) Non-Exempt BENEFIT ELIGIBILITY: Regular part-time eligibility includes paid time off (PTO) based on hours worked and years of service. 403(b) Retirement plan – no match.
