General Description of the Position
The individual is responsible for planning, managing and executing recruitment strategies as established by the Executive Director of Admissions within his/her designated geographical area; This position requires travel (if applicable) and extended work hours (evenings and weekends). The individual will conduct student interviews and counsel families through the application and enrollment process during high school visits, college fairs, parent nights, and in-office/ virtual visits. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the review of admission applications and decision making. The individual must maintain knowledge about the programs offered at Delaware State University.
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
- Assist in the direction, coordination and implementation of the Recruitment Program
- Manage assigned territory as follows:
- Conduct student interview on and off campus
- Correspond with prospective students, parents, high school and college counselors, alumni and etc.
- Function successfully in a multicultural environment
- Establish, maintain, and cultivate relationships with representatives of various organizations that my result in the recruitment of potential students (i.e., school counselors, program coordinators, parents, etc.
- Participate in territory events to develop contacts and maintain knowledge of your territory
- Participate in the direction, coordination and implementation of the following recruitment activities:
- DSU Homecoming
- Fall/Spring Open House
- Campus Tours
- Special high school and community activities (i.e., college and career fairs)
- Professional Development Workshops/Seminars
- Maintain a record/log of visitations (in person or virtual), contacts, and students enrolled
- Assist the University in its efforts to meet enrollment objectives by setting personal recruiting goals and aggressively pursuing them.
Other Functions Individuals in this position will also perform the following assigned tasks:
- Assist in the development of a network recruitment program with the general Alumni Association
- Submit oral and written reports of weekly recruitment activities to directors
- Submit semester schedule of activities including completed travel authorizations accompanied by requisitions if necessary
