Job Description
SCADA SYSTEM TECHNICIAN I
DUTIES AND FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The incumbent in this class is responsible for PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, HMI (Human Machine Interface) programming, Supervisory Control and
Data Acquisition (SCADA) software programming, and integration of electrical/electronic process control systems. Work is performed under general supervision. This position requires weekend and holiday work as well as participation in the twenty-four (24) hour on-call rotating schedule.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Develops, edits and troubleshoots PLC and HMI programs that will be used for
Treatment Plant Process control systems, remote pumping station systems, and communication systems; responsible for maintaining the SCADA system software and related databases; responsible for integrating existing relay logic control systems into
PLC based systems; participates in the County’s work order and asset management system; performs related work as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of computer operation systems, considerable knowledge of PLC Programming, HMI development programming, spread spectrum radio setup and database management; working knowledge with Auto-Cad Software; strong knowledge of electrical control systems; ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics; possession of a valid state of Delaware Journeyperson Electrician License; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives from other agencies, staff and department heads.
