The Construction Specialist II provides field oversight of construction activities involving Chesapeake Utilities natural gas Distribution pipeline system. The difference between this job and other Construction Specialist is due to the complexity and project size responsibilities. The role ensures that all subject facilities conform to Company policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements. The role oversees and monitors work performance by company contractors; completes reports while reviewing records and documentation; makes recommendations for corrective actions when necessary and appropriate in the course of business and ensures safety and environmental compliance on job site. This job focusses on natural gas distribution projects at all ranges of complexity and budget level.
What you'll be working on...
- Oversees, reviews, and verifies that all construction related activities involving Chesapeake Utilities natural gas distribution pipeline systems and related facilities meet Company policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements.
- Provides written documentation and complete reports, including corrective recommendations to work in the field and in procedures and policies where necessary.
- Works closely with Project Manager to ensure that all projects are appropriately reviewed, monitored, and verified.
- Ensures that business relationships with outside contractors and third parties are professional, constructive, and beneficial to all parties. This position will need to represent the Company's values in its interactions with all internal and external parties.
- Operates in an independent manner and must be able to objectively review each respective situation with a considerable amount of judgment and precision in the field.
- Verifies that external parties are qualified and certified to complete the field activities that are being performed.
- Supports, promotes, and participates in the Company's Mission and Service Excellence initiatives.
- Provides technical assistance and advice to team members on difficult and unusual problems when necessary.
- Investigates complaints and follows up to ensure satisfactory resolution.
- Reviews project as-built drawings and records for accuracy and completeness.
- Completes inspection records and relevant project documents for the files.
