Job Description
Clinical:
- Preparing patients for examination, take vitals and medical histories. Assists the physician during exams
- Updates patient medical records
- Administer immunizations and flu shots
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens Perform basic laboratory tests
- Take electrocardiograms
- Ear cleaning and irrigation Clean wounds Schedule procedures
- Knowledge of insurance plans and requirements for prior authorizations and referrals
Administrative:
- Responsible for smooth entry and exit of the patient, welcomes and greets all patients and visitors in person and on the phone
- Answers the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette. Schedules and confirms appointments
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information
- Responds to patients and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner
- Sorts mail and faxes and scans correspondence
- Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized
Requirements: High school diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED). CMA or nursing student preferred. Knowledge of clinical and office procedures and basic computer skills.
Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
Skills: Ability to multi-task, excellent customer service skills, proper telephone etiquette, basic computer skills. Ability to multi task, good organization and time- management skills. Ability to deal with potentially stressful situations in a sensitive and caring manner. Excellent interpersonal skills, including friendliness, empathy, patience, kindness, politeness and helpfulness. Team player.
