Job Description

Ironworks Inc. is currently seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Fabrication Shop Laborer to support our fabrication team. This is an entry-level position offering a chance to build skills in metalworking. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, thrives in a hands-on environment, and takes pride in helping produce high-quality steel components.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Grinding, Wire tool cleaning, Prime painting
  • Operate hand-held grinders to smooth and finish steel parts.
  • Remove weld spatter, rust, and other surface imperfections to meet blueprint or spec requirements.
  • Apply stamps, markings, or labels to identify finished products.
  • Assist in preparing parts for welding and fabrication by cleaning or positioning materials.
  • Use an electric sprayer to prime paint steel assemblies
  1. Material Handling
  • Safely lift, carry, or move steel parts and assemblies by hand or with mechanical assistance.
  • Organize materials and workpieces in designated staging areas.
  • Help load/unload parts to and from machines, welding tables, or storage racks.
  1. Packaging & Shipping Support
  • Package completed parts for shipment, ensuring protective wrapping and accurate labeling.
  • Prepare skids, crates, or containers as needed.
  1. Housekeeping & Equipment Maintenance
  • Keep workstations, benches, and common areas clean and free from obstructions.
  • Assist in the maintenance of tools and equipment (cleaning, minor repairs, and routine inspections).
  1. Safety & Team Participation
  • Always wear required PPE (gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection).
  • Follow all shop safety rules, including lockout/tagout and safe lifting procedures.
  • Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to meet production deadlines.
