at United States Postal Service in Wilmington, Delaware, United States
Job Description
Mail Carriers (Rural) Customer Service & Delivery – USPSRural Carrier Associates (RCAs) are the backbone of mail delivery in less populated areas, ensuring that even the most remote communities stay connected. Unlike City Carriers who work in busier urban areas, RCAs take on the unique challenge of delivering to rural routes—often using their own personal vehicles (with mileage and gas reimbursement).
Great Pay & Flexibility
This is one of the highest-paying entry-level roles at USPS, with wages ranging from $17.76 to $27.54 per hour, depending on location. Plus, this position offers flexibility—many RCAs work part-time, while others transition into full-time roles or move up within USPS. In fact, many City and Rural Carriers began their careers as RCAs!
What to Expect as an RCA:
- Sort, deliver, and collect mail on an assigned rural route
- Work independently and enjoy the freedom of the open road
- Use your personal vehicle for deliveries (with mileage reimbursement)
- Opportunity to grow into a full-time USPS career
Many RCAs love the flexibility and independence this role provides, making it a long-term career choice for those who enjoy working on their own schedule. If you’re looking for a well-paying job with room to grow, becoming an RCA could be the perfect fit!
