The Direct Support Professional – Lead DSP (LDSP) serves as the point person at the community home for care-related and documentation-related assistance and expertise. This position will lead by example and help ensure that the home is running smoothly and efficiently while assisting the Program Manager.
Key Relationships: Individuals, families, advocates, program manager, peers, champions, nurses, physicians and medical personnel.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Some Essential Functions:
- Serve as a liaison between the Program Manager, individuals, and DSP staff.
- Provide guidance and support to DSP staff on shift regarding individual care.
- Assist the Program Manager with tasks such as paperwork, receipts, documentation, house and vehicle maintenance, client funds, scheduling, and staff training.
- Help individuals with household tasks like shopping, meal prep, cleaning, and laundry, encouraging participation when possible.
- Prepare nutritious meals based on dietary plans or medical needs.
- Assist with personal hygiene care (e.g., bathing and toileting) for individuals who need help.
- Teach and support self-help skills, social skills, and community involvement.
- Complete required forms and reports, including medical and behavioral data, and update daily logs.
- Communicate professionally with individuals, staff, families, and external contacts (doctors, nurses, etc.).
- Maintain accurate petty cash records.
- Record time accurately in the time and attendance system.
