Job Description
The City of Newark is recruiting one candidate for a Property Maintenance Inspector (PMI)
position in the Code Enforcement Division of the Planning & Development Department. This fulltime position is responsible for the enforcement of housing and property maintenance codes
within the City’s jurisdiction. Must be able to understand and effectively communicate
requirements of ICC Property Maintenance Code under difficult conditions.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and high school diploma. Must be able
to obtain ICC certification as a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector within one (1) year
of hire. Related construction or inspection experience preferred. Salary range of $46,668 to
$69,133 for PMI I and $50,476 to $74,775 for PMI II, which is determined by experience and
certifications. Starting salary range of $46,668 to $59,050 for PMI I and $50,476 to $63,869 for
PMI II plus excellent fringe benefits and opportunities for overtime assignments.
