PARKING REGULATIONS ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

The City of Wilmington, a leading Delaware employer, upholds its commitment to quality public services and fiscal stability through the Finance Department. We maintain the City's financial records, billing and collecting amounts due the City, procurement, the budget, and various administrative services. In addition, the Finance Department oversees all Parking Enforcement functions. Parking Enforcement patrols all public City Streets in accordance with City Code.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A paraprofessional who enforces all parking ordinances and regulations, initiation of booting and towing actions, reporting of "wanted" (stolen or used in crime) vehicles, field entry or recordation of incident data, providing traffic direction and information on points of interest within City, and reporting of in operative or damaged parking meters and signage. Additional responsibilities include:

Present a professional and positive demeanor and appearance at all times
•
Patrols City streets, enforcing all City Parking Regulations
•
Reviews registration numbers, monitor parking meters and kiosks, and/or check parking permits for enforcement of posted parking regulations.
•
Issues parking citations using manual or automated methods. Issuance of citation requiring recordation of vehicle color, model, type, description of violation.
•
Notifies dispatcher or police of "wanted" vehicles, scofflaws, abandoned vehicles, and/or unregistered vehicles through radio contact.
•
Installs and/or removes Immobilization Devices.
•
Work in conjunction with other City Departments such as Public Works and Wilmington Police Department.
•
Performs all related work as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
All selected applicants must pass a criminal background investigation and pre-employment physical.
•
Physical Requirements: Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop and kneel. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
•
Working Conditions: Frequently works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; precarious places. Occasional exposure to dirt, dust, excessive noise, biting insects, moving parts, traffic, or moderate degree of physical effort.
