DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Paraprofessional who provides routine and complex assistance in the support of recreational, educational and cultural activities at William “Hicks” Anderson Community Center. Also performs routine and complex administrative work in planning, organizing, coordinating, and administering a variety of special recreational, educational, cultural, community or other special events and programs. Supervises specialists, part-time recreation staff, special interest instructors, seasonal employees, and volunteers, as assigned. Additional responsibilities include:

Manages and supervises assigned operations to achieve goals citywide within available resources for the Recreation Division

Provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range plans.

Gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports, and recommendations.

Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments.

Trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff.

Coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed.

Assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.

Administers and trains staff part-time on procedures.

Retrieves timecards and updates timesheets for accurate payroll processing.

Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.

Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

Possess a valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.

Supports the management of the budget and assist with grant writing as needed.

Performs all related work as required.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
All selected applicants must pass a criminal background investigation and pre-employment physical.

Physical Requirements: Frequently required to sit and use hands to fingers, operate objects, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to walk, talk, or hear. Occasionally lift to 30 pounds.

Vision: close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment with occasional opportunities to work outdoors

Compensation encompasses both salary administration and a comprehensive benefit package:

Salary Administration: New employees are hired at the starting and up to median salary based on qualifications and internal equity. Annual merit increases are provided based on a satisfactory performance review.
