+ You will utilize your academic background and experience to review, evaluate, and implement federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements as they apply to electric power, nuclear, industrial, and advanced environmental control projects.
+ You will use your knowledge of environmental science and engineering, meteorology, climatology, and engineering principals to support project teams to define, evaluate, and implement complex environmental permitting and licensing projects.
+ The position will offer you the opportunity to use your knowledge of complex interdisciplinary environmental issues as they apply to a variety of projects, and to work with multi-disciplined project teams to:
+ Prepare site-specific environmental assessments to evaluate potential impacts to sensitive environmental and social receptors associated with siting, constructing, and operating proposed fossil fuel power plants, nuclear power facilities, wind energy farms, solar generating stations, and asso ciated linear projects.
+ Integrate federal, state, and local regulatory requirements into project-specific work plans and to develop and implement cost-effective compliance strategies.
+ Prepare and present complex technical reports including site selection studies, meteorological and climatological assessments, and environmental and social impact evaluations.
+ Work with project team members and client representatives to ensure projects are designed and developed using criteria that recognize all relevant environmental requirements.
+ In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your environmental career via peer-learning and knowledge sharing with other engineers and environmental professionals and participating in Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes and our associated “Communities of Practice.”
+ You will be responsible for establishing work priorities on a daily basis for multiple projects, as requested by project team members.
+ Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and environmental professionals.
+ The position offers the opportunity to travel to client offices and project site locations for project reviews in accordance with all applicable COVID-19 guidelines. Some international travel may be required.
Qualifications
We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position. Essential skills and experience:+ This position requires a BS in Environmental S cience, Environmental Engineering, Meteorology or related field, MS preferred
+ Ten or more years of experience in environmental impact assessments or environmental permitting for complex industrial projects
+ Significant coursework or experience focusing on meteorology and applied meteorological assessments, including meteorological data quality control and pre-processing
+ Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
+ Demonstrated ability to interact and multitask with senior level project team members, clients, and regulatory agencies
Valued but not required skills and experience:+ Certified Consulting Meteorologist status
+ Experience evaluating the air quality impacts of electric power plant projects for Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permitting
+ Experience with evaluating air quality impacts of industrial projects using standard dispersion models, including AERMOD and CALPUFF
+ E nvironmental assessment/permitting experience, including specific experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Impact Assessments; Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensing and associated Environmental Reports; or m ajor source air quality permitting
