Job Description
The Mechanic III is a member of the Aftermarket Parts area and is responsible for packaging and crating parts and assemblies for shipment according to shop drawings in a safe manner and ensuring the part is protected from damage that may occur during shipment. The Mechanic III works as member of the larger Aftermarket, PVC, Parts, Depot, and Baltibond team and may flex to any of the sub-departments as volume dictates.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Crating jobs and / or parts for aftermarket part orders ensuring all necessary parts are shipped and packaged to eliminate risk of damage
- Meet daily production dates and ship dates as assigned
- Replenish supplies including lumber and any other consumables
- Building fill bundles and prepping for shipment
- Building parts assembles according to blue prints and shop drawings
- Actively learn all skills necessary to become a world class mechanic
- Labeling of parts in according to prints and reference drawings
- Follow all safety requirements regarding tools and PPE
- Flex to other areas as needed demonstrating teamwork and a commitment to team success
- Perform all other tasks as directed by the supervisor
NATURE & SCOPE
Mechanic III reports to the Station Leader or Team Leader of the Parts Department, or a more senior Mechanic as assigned by the Supervisor
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Read a tape measure and perform basic fractional calculations
- Competent in reading blue prints and reference drawings
- Safely use nail guns, panel saw, miter saw and other small power tools as required
- Know how to correctly fill out In Process Inspections and any other paperwork as required
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment including pallet jacks, lift trucks and jib cranes as required
- Knowledge of all safety requirements associated with tasks

Employee will also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit and reach on a regular basis during a normal working shift This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Occasional weekend work is typical and availability is expected for any of the three operating shifts.
