CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
The Assistant Coach, Strength and Conditioning, at the University of Delaware is a valued member within the University and Department of Athletics, Community & Campus Recreation (DACCR), upholding and embracing the departmental mission of ‘Achieving Excellence Together.’
Under the general direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Strength & Conditioning. The Assistant Coach, Strength and Conditioning is responsible for designing, implementing, and supervising strength and conditioning training programs for male and female athletes on assigned sports teams that compete at the NCAA Division I level, within the philosophy and guidelines of the department. The incumbent is responsible for risk management in the weight/strength facility and overseeing equipment maintenance. The incumbent is also responsible for providing leadership, management, and oversight of comprehensive data collection/analysis and monitoring applications with a focus on optimizing student-athlete performance. The incumbent is to manage programming designed to collect, coordinate, and analyze data and work collaboratively with all areas of sport performance and assigned sport coaches using data informed decisions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coaching- Strength and Conditioning
Design, implement and supervise strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs for intercollegiate sports.
Assist in daily operations of the BCC and Flacco strength training center, which includes risk management and equipment maintenance.
Implement training of student-athletes in proper weight-lifting techniques and conditioning practices.
Record and interpret results, then evaluate the appropriate correlation of fitness components necessary to meet optimal individual performance levels.
Bridge the gap with functional rehabilitation with student-athletes in collaboration with the Sports Medicine staff and Athletic Training with the goal of reconditioning athletes following an injury.
Assist in aspects of recruiting and promotion of the sports training center.
Assist with the student internship program
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Proficient in social media and Microsoft office.
Work in collaboration with all Sport Performance staff to service student-athletes.
Sports Performance Analytics
Utilize Sparta Science/Force Plate testing sessions for all assigned varsity programs; implement correctives in programming per Sparta data.
Utilize GPS Technology and Data for assigned teams.
Utilize EliteForm/VBT Technology for assigned teams.
Attend and provide feedback on stude
