Lead, Mechanical Engineer
LEAD MECHANICAL ENGINEER
The preferred candidate will be able to function as a Lead Mechanical Engineer providing technical oversight for multiple projects in the Chemicals and Biofuels industries. Additionally, candidates with a specific technical skill will be considered and allowed to function in multiple roles depending upon candidates’ expertise level. For the right candidate we will consider a part-time role, nominally 3 days per week in the office.
+ A licensed Professional Engineer with proven track record of managing multiple mechanical design efforts from conceptual design through construction support for world class Chemical and Biofuel clients. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of a team leading new technology deployment on a wide range of sustainability initiatives for our key clients. In-depth knowledge of mechanical equipment normally found in the chemical industries and biofuels industries along with industry codes is critical to provide leadership on these challenging projects.
+ In addition to the work group lead role described above, be able to bring to the table an area of focused technical leadership; the specific areas are open and somewhat flexible with the current areas of interest noted below:
The selected candidate will be expected to function primarily as a Lead Mechanical Engineer. Dual role will be entirely dependent upon candidate’s skills and experiences- this is not a mandatory requirement. Candidate must be flexibility to accommodate a varying blend of each role depending upon the specific needs of the Projects.
Fully remote work will be considered for the right candidate
RESPONSIBILITES – MECHANICAL WORK GROUP LEAD ROLE (PRIMARY ROLE)
+ Early project planning and coordination while handling two to three small to mid-cap sized projects with ability to quickly provide engineering work hour estimates and risk memos.
+ Develop and manage the preparation, review and checking of mechanical specification packages in accordance with Client requirements and industry best practices.
+ Manage and successfully influence the entire procurement life cycle while working closely with all disciplines.
+ Ability to effectively manage building services groups such as Fire Protection, HVAC and plumbing as a work group lead.
+ Managing development of complex multi-discipline Construction packages including diagrams, drawings, equipment schedules, details, and Scopes of Work.
+ Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors in a professional manner.
+ Track Project Scope and Schedule and notify project manager of deviation from original design, budget, or schedule.
RESPONSIBILITES – TECHNICAL SPECIALIST ROLE (depending upon candidate)
+ Actively engage key clients while extending our already successful collaborative relationships in the candidate’s area of specialty.
+ Act as subject matter expert for KBR local office and participate in KBR’s worldwide network of SME’s.
+ Train and mentor early-to-mid career engineers in the candidate’s area of expertise.
+ Provide consultation services to in-house projects on as-needed basis and provide external consulting services when requested.
REQUIREMENTS
+ Preferred Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or another related field.
+ 5-10 years of experience in the EPC industry or chemical / biofuels operating companies. Will consider experience with chemical site team or project engineering backgrounds in related industries. Operations / Maintenance and Reliability experience is a plus.
+ Professional Engineering License (P.E.) is preferred.
+ Proven experience with any of the following core areas:
+ Broad experience with any chemical’s technologies and / or biofuels experience.
+ Heat transfer technology and equipment such as boilers, heat exchangers, char boilers, gasification, mechanical vapor recompression systems etc.
+ Large complex packaged equipment systems such as thermal oxidizers, cooling towers, process units etc.
+ Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines while providing proactive leadership on all interdisciplinary design coordination efforts.
+ Ability to travel as needed to survey client sites.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with supervisory experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
+ Travel to client sites will comply with all KBR and Client Safety Rules, Processes and Procedures
+ Work at client sites may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat and steel-toed boots
+ Work at client sites may require moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas, ascending/descending stairs, walking the client property
+ ?This may include climbing ladders, lifting to up to 35 lbs, etc
