Job Description
ChristianaCare's Medical Group is looking to hire a Full-Time Access Coordinator to support the Outpatient Neurology practice at HCCC in Newark.
The Access Coordinator is responsible for obtaining benefits and precertification/prior authorizations for imaging, testing and medications. The Access Coordinator will join a fantastic interdisciplinary team consisting of our physicians, APCs, registered nurses, and frontline staff.
This role will require some flexibility to travel to a different location, either Middletown or Whitehall, as needed.

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday: Day shift
No weekends/holidays

Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and prioritize incoming patient orders.
Obtain authorization via payor website or by phone.
Verify patient's insurance benefits
Update patients on reason for denial.
Regularly follow up with the status of the authorization.
Initiate appeals for denied authorizations.
Evaluate portions to be paid and notify the patients of their deductibles and co-insurance amount.
Contact the referring office to obtain any referrals required.
Gather information needed to complete the prior authorization and contact patients as needed to obtain additional information.
Performs daily operational duties such as insurance verification/pre-authorization, utilizing Powerchart, Soarian, Revenue Cycle and insurance web-site systems.
Performs other related duties as required .

Qualifications:
High School Diploma
At least 2 years prior authorization experience preferred.
Familiar with medical terminology
Possess professional phone etiquette.
Ability to apply good verbal and written communication.
