Chemours is seeking an Analytical Chemist to join our growing TSS Process Development Technology team! This role is based in the Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, DE.

In Thermal & Specialty Solutions, we harness next-generation, low-Global Warming Potential (GWP) technology to provide market-driven innovations to customers in the areas of Refrigerants, Propellants, Fire Protection, Foam Blowing Agents used in various systems for building and construction segments, and Mobile and Stationary heating and cooling systems. Our technical organization consists of experts in the areas of fluorine, catalysis, process development, analytical and formulation science, and application development to name a few.

This highly visible, key role will support key R&D projects within the Thermal & Specialty Solutions business with a specific focus on Analytical method development, Process Development, process scale-up and support for commercial-scale manufacturing, and existing plant support.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

+ Develop and implement analytical methods to support experiments for lab and pilot units

+ Support improvement and design of new equipment in lab and pilot-scale areas for future development studies

+ Lead capital projects to improve and expand lab and pilot-scale research capabilities, consistent with forecasted needs to support critical strategic business priorities

+ Interpret and analyze results and make suggestions on alternative approaches or improvements to optimize processes on lab, pilot, and plant-scale

+ Engage with commercial-plant technology teams, evaluating and proposing test conditions, and support engineering functions in troubleshooting plant and step-specific concerns in processes and analytical evaluations

+ Support businesses in facilitating scale-up programs for new commercial facilities

+ Interface with senior technical researchers to set the objectives & priorities for the various tests

+ Share conclusions broadly and continue experiments as needed with minimal guidance, reporting results to senior business leaders

+ Provide data to guide research programs and prepare patent applications

The following is required for this role:

+ PhD in Organic Chemistry or Analytical chemistry OR Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry with industrial experience

+ Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of the organization

+ Self-motivated, customer-focused, and able to independently achieve results

+ Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve problems

+ Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects

+ Ability to work in a team environment with a high degree of initiative self-motivation and flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly and safely

The following is preferred for this role:

+ Demonstrated experience with GCMS technology

+ Strong experience and skills in organic compound structure identification

+ Knowledge and experience in organic chemistry synthesis

+ Knowledge of fluorine chemistry

+ Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

Pay Range (in local currency):

$105,280.00 – $164,500.00

Chemours Level:

Annual Bonus Target:

11%
