The Role
The Vehicle Testing MFG IT Applications SME acts as point of contact and advocates ME needs for the integration of VaaT across Manufacturing Engineering IT systems. The Vehicle Testing MFG IT Applications SME works closely with the Test and IT developers, to define and implement systems requirements and processes. Due to the wide scope of work, this position will have high visibility across General Motors through Manufacturing IT, product design groups, program launch teams, assembly manufacturing and quality organizations. The innovation team is a dynamic group, and this position will be challenging. The Vehicle Testing MFG IT Applications SME is instrumental to Vehicle Systems to deliver VaaT focused order handling, test, and reporting systems.
This role falls under the ME Mainline Electrical Innovation team, within the Assembly Verification Group. The department is responsible for processing and testing the electrical systems of vehicles within our assembly plants. This role focuses on defining and implementing future state for order handling, soft parts delivery, test, and results processing systems.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
+ Collaborating with Manufacturing IT, Product Engineering, Assembly Verification Test groups to implement robust systems and repeatable processes to support vehicle processing.
+ Leading conversations defining future direction for IT Systems to support Vehicle Assembly Processes
+ Assuring high quality system verification on all applications and system changes before deployment at the assembly plants.
+ Lead and support Laboratory Proof of Concepts, research and experimentation
+ Lead GVDP EOLT events with Product Engineering
+ Support all launch (APPV, PPV, MVNS) events
+ Driving continuous Improvements in the organization.
+ Removing roadblocks, work with product engineering, manufacturing, IT or AVG software development team.
+ Collaborating across organizations

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
+ Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience
+ 5+ years of vehicle electrical system experience
+ Vehicle electrical sub-systems experience (engine controls, ABS, air bag, body controllers)
+ Automotive assembly plant operations
+ GM quality systems
+ GM vehicle development process
+ Familiarity with VIP architecture (i.e., ISO 14229, Cybersecurity, Ethernet)
+ Familiarity with SDV architecture
+ End Of Line vehicle processing and diagnostic experience
+ GM VAP Systems experience (GEPICS, SPR/SPD, GSIP, MERS, EPP/SEP, APS)
+ Ability to read CAN/Ethernet log files
+ Manufacturing Engineering experience
+ Electrical engineering experience
+ 25% travel will be required
+ Remote – work from home job classification
This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP, DTAP or localization.
