POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION
POSITION TITLE: Avionic Lead Technician DATE: August 2023
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DEPT: General Aviation
LOC: Delaware
POSITION SUMMARY: The Avionics Technician reports to the Avionics & Installation Supervisor and is responsible for the avionics technicians on the installation, repair, modification and routine maintenance on aircraft as required; operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs work as outlined in work orders timely and signs when work is completed.
Notify his supervisor immediately of any condition that may arise that could present him with problems of parts, materials, airworthiness, workmanship or schedule.
Coordinates with the Designated Inspector when a progressive inspection is to take place and notifies the Designated Inspector prior to closing a given area or for final inspection.
Responsible to repair, modify, install, and perform routine maintenance of all Avionics systems with accuracy and with minimal assistance.
Continuously abreast of current technical maintenance standards and methods.
Accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, drawings, engineering orders and other documents from both the customer and company.
Apply deductive reasoning to troubleshoot and repair and/or check complex systems.
Properly utilize Avionics test equipment to perform systems test and keep abreast of new and advanced test equipment and the use of such equipment.
Properly utilize and maintain Avionics hand tools to perform repairs and installations.
Responsible in keeping work area clean and in an orderly manner.
Keep leadership and co-workers apprised of work progress and/or problems.
Accurately document work performed as set forth by company and customer maintenance programs on a daily basis using the standard format.
Fabricate per drawings and standard practices, as well as wire bundles and assemblies to include marking of wires, properly securing wires into bundles, and termination of wires into a variety of contacts and connectors.
Ensures work order discrepancy corrective action is adequate for work accomplished.
Notifies supervisor of any tasks performed which should be documented in the On The Job Training (OJT) record.
Trains new hires and supports and trains team members as needed.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); five years of prior experience as an avionic technician and an A&P license required. Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual should have the ability to interact with and enter data into spreadsheet software.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-direct work.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch.
