The Role

The Regulatory Affairs Manager is critical to the regulatory and government affairs organization. This position works collaboratively with regulatory attorneys, state government affairs and other internal business units to coordinate and ensure state regulatory compliance, to communicate with regulators, to prepare and aid in the submission of successful state broad grant applications, and to monitor rule-making dockets and comment on the same. Keeps abreast of regulatory procedures and changes. Provides tariff research and interpretation. Provides tariff research and interpretation. May direct interaction with regulatory agencies on defined matters. Directs and performs evaluation of internal operations, controls, communications, risk assessments and maintenance of documentation as related to regulatory compliance and recommends appropriate changes.

The Main Responsibilities

+ Maintains the organization’s ongoing relationships with regulatory commissions/authorities. Coordinates and conducts the assessment of internal controls to ensure compliance as required by regulatory commissions/authorities. Monitors emergency declaration and state commission activities as required.

+ Develops programs and processes to manage complaint cases brought to regulatory authorities and develops process improvements to avoid future complaints. Serves as a liaison between internal advocacy groups and field operations.

+ Advances organization positions with internal and external parties. Prepares and sponsors testimony to governmental or regulatory agencies.

+ Monitors legislative and regulatory activity and keeps the organization informed of such developments. May develop strategies and programs to obtain regulatory approval of the organization’s products.

+ Maintains relationships with regulatory agencies, public safety entities, and with organizations with similar legislative interests.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree in related field

+ 5 years’ government affairs or regulatory experience

+ Proficient in MS Office Suite

+ Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity due to the nature of information involved and visibility of position

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Strong analytical abilities

+ Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards

+ Demonstrates initiative and takes ownership of tasks and projects

+ Proactively identifies areas for quality and efficiency improvements and seeks out new challenges

Preferred:

+ 2+ years’ experience in telecommunications industry

+ Master’s degree in related field

+ Knowledge of tariff environments and structures

+ Understanding of 911/NG911 and network outage reporting environments

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$94420 – $118028 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$99390 – $124230 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$104360 – $130448 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$109330 – $136665 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
