The Role
We are looking for a Director of Government Affairs to support our state grant and business opportunities, as well as advocate for our policy interests at the state and local level.
The Main Responsibilities
+ Identify, pursue and secure state grant funding and business opportunities for Lumen’s last mile and middle mile broadband deployment projects, supporting the company’s vision of digital inclusion.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with key state and local government officials, agencies and stakeholders, especially with state broadband offices
+ Monitor and analyze state and local legislative and regulatory developments that affect Lumen’s business interests and operations
+ Represent Lumen in state and local trade associations, coalitions and advocacy groups
+ Coordinate with internal teams, such as legal, engineering, finance and operations, to ensure compliance with state and local requirements and to support Lumen’s business objectives
+ Support business development efforts by providing strategic guidance, market intelligence and policy insights
+ Prepare and deliver presentations, reports and other communications to internal and external audiences
What We Look For in a Candidate
+ Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications or related field
+ 7+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, lobbying or related field
+ Experience in the telecommunications industry or related sectors
+ Knowledge of state and local grant programs, legislative and regulatory processes and issues affecting the telecommunications industry
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical and policy issues in a clear and concise manner
+ Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
+ Ability to travel as needed.
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$128310 – $160388 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$135060 – $168825 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$141820 – $177278 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$148570 – $185715 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
