The Innovation and Development Division (IDD) drives the innovation strategy for the Hubs and Operations, and contributes to the Group's transformation. It is responsible for imagining, developing and incubating new solutions until they are brought to market, particularly when it comes to offers with a high technological content (including digital and IT). IDD gathers more than 3,000 employees from 70 nationalities at 60 sites. How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The Process Engineering and Combustion Group at Air Liquide develops technologies for the production and or use of industrial gases in support of decarbonization and energy transition. This position reports to the VP R&D - Americas, and is located in the Innovation Campus Delaware. The purpose of this position is to provide effective leadership to our growing team of scientists, engineers and technicians engaged in research to deliver greater value to Air Liquide's stakeholders. This involves the following: Act as a safety role model, promote a high level of safety awareness and advance sustainability ambitions of the group. Maintain and continuously improve the compliance of his/her group to safety, environmental and quality standards. Be accountable for the deliverables of assigned projects to achieve the expected results as defined by the Program Directors and Scientific Directors, and as decided by the R&D management; champion Intellectual Property protection for innovations. Work with the VP R&D, Program Directors, and Scientific Directors to establish and execute a strategic portfolio of projects for his/her group activities. Establish and manage a budget and team objectives, proactively seek funding opportunities for financed projects, apply for capital investments, and deliver results by ensuring the best use of all his/her group resources. Develop his/her team members' competencies and technical expertise. Attract, retain and develop researchers with the support of the HR team and VP R&D. Develop and manage academic collaborations with world class institutions and universities under the guidance of the Global Lab Director. Strengthen relationships and support Air Liquide affiliates in the Hub by building innovative projects bringing impact and providing technical expertise and resources. Manage the flextime innovation program in his/her group.__________________Are you a MATCH? Master degree with ~10 + yrs experience or PhD + 7 yrs of relevant experience in Combustion, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related fields Strong record of safety leadership Strong knowledge of Gas Production technologies E&C/LI core processes (Air Separation Unit, Steam Methane Reforming, Membrane, electrolysis) Adsorption (VSA) applications Understanding of industrial combustion processes, oxy-fuel combustion, and hydrogen applications Demonstrated leadership; credibility and charisma to win and maintain team harmony and morale Strong ability and appetite for interpersonal interactions with a wide range of stakeholders: researchers, Global Lab / Program director, market/product managers, sales/business representatives as well as with external parties such as customers, industrial, and academic partners Ability to effectively manage and lead a team in an international, innovation / research environment; demonstrated successful working experience in a multicultural environment Effective communicator; able to present in various environments (team, customers, visitors, executives, etc.) Preferred: Prior team management experience Tolerance for uncertainty and ambiguity Ability to assess the quality / reliability of the project outcomes, reshape and challenge the content of deliverables and results together with researchers and experts Familiarity with the Stage-Gate Innovation process Our Differences make our Performance At Air Liquide, we are committed to build a diverse and inclusive workplace that embraces the diversity of our employees, our customers, patients, community stakeholders and cultures across the world.
