Overview
Waters Corporation is seeking a Senior Network Engineer. The selected candidate will join a talented team responsible for the implementation and support of the Waters global wired and wireless network. In this role, the candidate will have the primary responsibility of managing the health of the network at our New Castle, DE facility.
Additionally, the selected candidate will provide tier 2 support for all network incidents as well as project management, including leading lifecycle upgrades and participating in larger engineering/architecture initiatives. Other responsibilities include, monitoring the network for performance issues, development of support documentation and proactively recommending preventive maintenance.
The ideal candidate will be a technically proficient, user-focused, and accountable IT professional who also connects with the importance of collaborating well in a team environment.
Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to
Monitor and manage incoming incidents and service requests. Function as tier 2 escalation for all networking incidents while continually communicating with end users.
Perform hands-on networking activities and integrating with on-premises IT services.
Participate in the Global Network Services team on-call rotation which may include nights and weekends.
Supporting the Waters wide area network, Ethernet LANS, and the ongoing maintenance of network infrastructure. Infrastructure includes network protocols, routers, switches, firewalls, circuits, wireless controllers, access points, network security devices as well as network management infrastructure
Utilizing various network management tools and techniques to ensure that the networks are performing as designed.
Work with users and field personnel in remote locations to install and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points.
Effectively communicate with non-technical personnel who frequently are required to act as "remote hands" to assist with troubleshooting
Lead network infrastructure lifecycle management projects like security vulnerability management, patching or firmware updates and network hardware maintenance.
Participate in larger projects including global network hardware refreshes etc
The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following
3-5 years' experience with networking and internetworking devices and software. Experience with large mission-critical networks considered a plus
Working knowledge of the following technologies:
Cisco routing and switching including Catalyst, Meraki and Nexus experience
Palo Alto firewall including Global Protect VPN and Prisma
Cisco wireless technologies
Network Security services including Network Access Control and Segmentation
DDI systems (DNS, DHCP and IPAM)
Cloud networking (Azure and AWS)
Network and Routing protocols (MPLS, BGP, OSPF, Spanning Tree and VLANs)
Some knowledge of additional network products including Avaya, Juniper and Aruba wireless
Cisco Certified Network Associate certification
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
