The Pharma Solutions business will be taking on its next chapter of growth as a trusted partner for the

pharmaceutical industry with the announcement to sell Pharma Solutions to Roquette. This move will position Pharma Solutions to expand its industry leadership through continued investment in innovation to meet the evolving needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers and developers worldwide.

The sale is presently expected to close in the first half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. The Pharma Solutions business unit will remain a part of IFF until close and, at such time, it will transition to Roquette. The Senior Application Specialist is an experienced technical professional that provides support to IFF Pharma Solutions products and applications in North America. He/She manages the technical relationship with specific pharmaceutical and dietary supplement customers in support of growing the business and developing a robust pipeline of opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise on Established Products and Applications:

+ Contribute to/lead creative application approaches utilizing IFF’s excipients via generation of ideas and concepts to meet current and anticipated customer needs and to offer strong alternatives to competitive products.

+ Be the technical expert in IFF’s Pharmaceutical and Dietary Supplement excipient products Portfolio and its applications, providing hands on/classroom training to Customers, Sales, Marketing and Distributors, as appropriate. Publish conference posters, papers and articles.

+ Support the commercialization of new technologies and/or products through voice-of-customer and application/customer trials

+ Develops product data, applications, value-in-use information, product literature and sales presentations.

+ Evaluates, develops data for and assists in introducing new products.

+ Performs failure analysis and determines root cause/corrective action.

Strategic Market Support:

+ Collaborate with Strategic and Field Marketing in identifying global trends that could result in new opportunities or risks for IFF Pharma Solutions and translate those into appropriate application or product concepts.

+ Identify unmet customer and industry needs to accelerate growth such as specific technical support and services.

+ Effectively share learnings gained with other application, regional, and global teams

Leadership:

+ Work closely with Marketing, Sales and Distributors to ensure high quality knowledge of our products and applications are communicated via training and demonstrations

+ Act as a member of the global IFF Applications team to communicate regularly around successful Application projects and leverage learnings from other regions.

Project Management:

+ Develop and manage self-initiated or assigned Application/R&D projects and Customer Technical Service Requests (TSRs),and liaise with other Regional Labs to ensure timely completion and appropriate prioritization in alignment with Business needs.

+ Design experiments and testing protocols, and work with regional labs to coordinate bench work to support project goals.

+ Write Technical Reports and ensure confidential information is properly safeguarded, also through the course of project work.

+ Contribute to maintaining, improving and advancing technical capabilities in line with current and future business needs and developments.

Job Requirements:

+ BS in a relevant discipline, such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Life Sciences, is required.

+ 7-10 years Pharmaceutical formulation and technical service or product development experience, which should include: Hands-on experience with formulating tablets, capsules and/or gummies with experience in lab to pilot-scale blending, granulation, tableting, coating and similar processes. Must be able to demonstrate practical familiarity with relevant equipment such as rotary tablet machines, fluid-bed granulator/coaters, encapsulation machines, gummy depositing equipment and film coating equipment.

+ Highly collaborative and an effective communicator.

+ Skilled at building relationships and adapting messages for diverse audiences.

+ Dedicated to addressing customer needs, delivering solutions that meet customer expectations, and skilled in managing complexity.

+ Demonstrates decisive execution capabilities.

+ Advanced competency in science-based innovation.

+ Ability to fuse technical competency with the commercial aspects of the business.

+ Can balance the interests of multiple internal and external stakeholders

+ A willingness to travel is essential (40-50%).

Preferred Experience:

+ Demonstration of ability to lead/manage a product from R&D to manufacturing.

+ A broad overview of the technical/regulatory requirements and trends for the pharmaceutical industry.

+ A good understanding of related functional areas of a pharmaceutical company (e,g, analytical, clinical trials, production, QA, regulatory affairs).

+ Familiarity with the Dietary Supplement industry is preferred.

Preferred Education:

+ An MBA or MS / PhD in a relevant discipline, such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Life Sciences, is strongly preferred.’
