The Teen Job Readiness Workshop and Job Fair will bring together youth, parents, employers, and community organizations committed to supporting Delaware’s next generation of workers. The event kicks off with a 45-minute presentation from the Division of Industrial Affairs’ Wage & Hour Department, focusing on Delaware’s Child Labor Laws. This session will equip both teens and parents with essential knowledge about workplace rights, responsibilities, and the legal requirements for youth employment. Following the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a diverse range of local employers, community-based organizations, and city and state agencies actively hiring for summer youth positions.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with hiring companies offering second chances, receive assistance with the expungement process, and access a variety of services related to housing, healthcare, education, and substance abuse recovery, all in one location. While the focus is on justice-involved individuals, the event is open to all members of the community.

Event Highlights

 

Main Event: The first-floor auditorium at Wilmington University Dover will feature 30-35 vendors from various industries, offering job opportunities across multiple fields.

 

Community Resources:  Attendees can connect with community organizations offering essentiall support in areas like housing assistance, food programs, substance abuse recovery, mental health services, and education.

 

Expungement Clinic: On the second floor, a dedicated expungement clinic will provide free legal services to help eligible attendees navigate the process of expunging criminal records. Legal professionals will be available to offer personalized assistance. This service is provided in partnership with local legal experts and the Delaware Office of Defense Services.
