Job Overview:
We seek a Senior Business Development professional "player-coach" for our Regulatory Sciences service business. The individual will focus on driving a portion of the Regulatory Sciences (RS) business development efforts, both directly as a BD player and as a coach to other members of the group. Key responsibilities will include delivering sales results for the global RS business selling the full range of RS consulting services, working (coaching, leading and demonstrating) with the existing and new RS BD team. Since our focus is on consultative solutions, it is imperative that the Sr. BD director work with our key subject matter experts. As a player, the individual will be responsible for personally leading key accounts.
As a coach, s/he will also direct a portion of the team to do the same. In this role, s/he will plan and execute against the overall Certara Synchrogenix business development plan, which will include working with other stakeholders across our business unit, and in some cases, across other Certara business units more broadly. As an important member of the RS BD team, this individual will also be responsible for supporting the VP, BD to drive business results for our RS portfolio. In addition to generating a pipeline of opportunities, advancing and winning bookings, this role will include such items as leading by example in harmonizing key sales processes --- lead and opportunity tracking and reporting, pricing, signatures and approvals, etc., as well as ensuring that RCS and Certara processes and compliance requirements are followed.
As a player-coach leader within the RS Business Development team, the individual will work closely with the our Regulatory Services consulting group, and the commercially focused functions (Marketing, Commercial Operations, Service line subject matter experts) - to identify new business opportunities and grow existing clients. This will involve contributing to and understanding the RS go-to-market strategy and value proposition for both new logo and existing client accounts. The individual will need to be able to present capabilities to clients independently and manage relationships with key clients and accounts alongside other RS colleagues.
This role requires strong initiative, self-motivation and coordination with other team members. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong sales aptitude and a demonstrated capability and willingness to lead sales teams, as evidenced by multi-million-dollar annual bookings attainments personally, and at the team level.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Be the primary BD lead for all assigned key accounts, and opportunistic or smaller non-key accounts. This includes utilizing market knowledge and industry contacts to grow the RS business in line with agreed commercial goals.
o The role covers both existing clients and new. It comprises pursuing new client opportunities, identifying new contacts and accounts, and growing the range of business in existing accounts.
o Establish multiple-level contacts within assigned accounts by presenting to, consulting with, and cultivating relationships at all buying levels within assigned accounts.
o Qualify companies and contacts to understand the customer's key needs/challenges through identification, discovery, planning and account/customer qualifications.
