Incyte is searching for a skilled structural or computational biologist, who is interested in working with biochemists, medicinal chemists, and computational chemists to enable structure-based drug design and elucidation of molecular mode of action of drugs. The selected applicant will play an integral role as part of the Structure Biology team in collaboration with Scientific Computing & Data Logistics within Incyte Discovery-Applied Technology Group. She/he will have exposure to cutting-edge technologies used to enable discovery including CryoEM/cryoSPARC/Relion, MOE/PSILO, Phenix, and CCP4, as well as investigate the potential to coupling the more traditional crystallographic methodologies with the latest in predictive technologies and artificial intelligence.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Enhance the structural biology pipeline particularly for cryoEM
Support the development of both smallmolecule and protein-based biomolecules
Utilize modeling and protein engineering techniques to optimize current leads
Implement, vet, and apply machine learning/deep learning to supplement data gaps and help to understand complex processes that cannot readily be solved by current technologies
Integrate and augment internal experimental data workflows with public data and advanced analytical tools in AWS cloudbased environments.
PhD in macromolecular crystallography, computational biology or related field with a minimum of 2 years experience
Proficiency in cryoEM experimentation and data analysis
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
The incumbent must be selfmotivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, and have a desire to integrate tools and concepts between the fields of structural and computational biology
Record of scientific accomplishments in the field of structural biology and computational biology
Expertise in Xray crystallography techniques
Experience with protein predictive modeling and docking
Experience with SECMALS for protein characterization
Experience in Linux, Oracle, and coding in at least one highlevel language: python, java, etc
Experience with macromolecular predictive modeling: AlphaFold, RosettaFold, other similar packages.
