Primary function:
To prepare and serve food to patients and customers according to standardized recipes. Responsible for opening and closing the department, which includes cash handling procedures. Provides direction to Cook I's and Service Assistants. Demonstrates ability to convert recipes and can evaluate and communicate forecasting food changes.

Education and experience requirements:
Associates Degree in Culinary Arts with 2 years' food preparation experience preferred or
4 years food production experience in a high volume, fast-paced environment utilizing scratch-cooking. Leadership/ supervisory experience required.

Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:
Knowledge of food service equipment operation and use.
Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to read and follow standardized recipes.
Ability to calculate recipe quantities and extensions using simple math.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to exercise judgment in response to customer/patient demands.
Ability to manage stress in a highly visible service organization.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other departments.
Ability to measure food quantities.
Ability to distinguish color perception in response to quality control of food items.
Ability to determine product ordering needs based on production sheets with use of simple math.
Ability to problem solve and make decisions concerning food shortages or substitutions.
Skill in interpersonal relations and customer/patient satisfaction.

Special requirements:
Serve Safe Certification within one year of hire

Physical demands:
Must pass physical examination: drug-free; able to hear; able to see; able to speak; able to ambulate. Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, reach, handle, stand, stoop and bend to accommodate foodservice demands on a continuous basis. Must have developed sense of olfactory and gustatory abilities.
