The full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant Manager will be responsible for understanding and supporting Occupational Therapy operations at The Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital, and acute care operations at both Wilmington and Christiana Hospitals. Experience in each of these levels of care is preferred. Work assignments will be at the discretion of the Occupational Therapy Department Manager to support patient care, staff development, and department operations such as student programming, supply oversight and special initiatives. This position has a weekend and holiday requirement.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct clinical evaluation and treatment of patients
Assist with day-to-day operations on all campuses
Provides clinical oversight and leadership for staff
Assist with performance management and professional development of staff
Provide feedback on the fiscal operations
Evaluate the effectiveness of occupational therapy programs and provide feedback for changes that may be necessary or improvements that can be achieved
Provide leadership and direction for clear concise documentation of patient progress and assist with monitoring of staff compliance with documentation guidelines, billing, rules and regulations
Promotes excellence in patient and family centered care
Provides professional consultation regarding patient goals, status, equipment, and discharge recommendations to the clinical team
Supervises Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants and students during clinical education programs
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices and infection control policies. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Education and Experience Requirements:
BS in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE accredited school required; Masters or Doctorate degree preferred
At least 6 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist; preferably in an acute care setting
Occupational Therapist license or eligible for licensure in the state of Delaware
NBCOT certification required
CPR certification required
AOTA membership preferred
