Working with talented associates, you'll provide oversight and effective challenge to ensure all areas of operational risk are well managed.

Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Manager to join the Operational Risk Governance team in the Second Line of Defense, responsible for providing the Chief Operational Risk Officer the assurance he/she needs that operational risk is being well managed across the Company. This includes providing oversight, conducting assessments, executing monitoring, and challenging frameworks, policies, and processes that establish requirements for risk management activities across the Company. This position is responsible for maintaining and executing processes that support the Company's enterprise-wide Operational Risk Management Framework. This role engages with all levels of professionals and managers across multiple areas of operational risk to advise on best practices and make recommendations for enhanced governance and risk management practices. The Senior Manager will stay abreast of operational risk industry trends and best practices, to ensure policies and processes are adequately meeting regulatory requirements, as well as providing business partner satisfaction and efficiencies.

As part of the larger Operational Risk Management (ORM) organization, you will work with talented associates to provide oversight and effective challenge to ensure that operational risk is well managed. You'll also bring your unique perspective and experiences to help us be rigorous, curious and creative.

Senior Risk Managers have a natural passion for managing risk with excellent project, process and analytical skills. They partner with executives and other risk leaders to identify potential risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded. They are leaders that think broadly and critically about risk, while maintaining a drive towards delivering meaningful results.

Specific responsibilities of the Senior Manager for Operational Risk Governance include but are not limited to:

Working across operational risk management areas in the Second Line of Defense to ensure they are well managed and fully executing within the Risk Management Framework

Providing consulting to resources across the Second Line of Defense, ensuring our partners understand governance related requirements and have access to best practices and common approaches to enable efficient as well as effective adherence

Creating collaborative environments between other risk teams and various partner groups to create an integrated and seamless risk experience for the business (help drive towards clear and consistent practices across the Enterprise)

Supporting each Second Line of Defense group by recognizing they have individual needs/perspective, while influencing them to do what is needed to support the broader risk management framework

Analyzing data and information, leveraging that as input to effectively challenge practices and inform senior leaders where heightened risk may exist

Leading cross-functional initiatives that drive improved risk management, working with stakeholders across the enterprise to solve complex problems under tight deadlines

Staying current on the changing regulatory environment and understanding possible impacts to the risk management framework and underlying practices across the Second Line of Defense

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or military equivalent experience
