Job Summary (Primary function)
The Applied Technologies team has an immediate opening for a Senior Research Scientist / Research Investigator to design and execute cell based assays to support Incyte's Oncology Discovery programs. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with scientific passion in the field of emerging pre-clinical disease relevant complex in vitro cellular models and cellular metabolism platforms to support new drug target identification/ validation and evaluate lead candidates. This role will report direct to and provide functional support to the Principal Investigator.
Functional Responsibilities:
Design, execute and interpret in vitro cell based experiments including 2D and 3D cell cultures, cellular metabolism assays to guide lead optimization, evaluate candidates in our discovery pipeline.
Apply state-of-art cellular technologies to understand the mechanism of actions of lead candidates in our pipeline and support identification and validation of new targets.
Support the PI to develop pre-clinical complex in vitro cellular and microphysiological model systems to evaluate targets and lead candidates.
Perform and analyze data from extracellular flux assays to evaluate cell health and mitochondrial toxicity.
Work independently on the bench with minimal supervision.
Work collaboratively across multiple functional groups within drug discovery and clinical development to achieve corporate discovery goals.
Stay updated on the relevant current scientific literature and present research data at internal meetings.
Follow company safety practices, including training, lab safety, and record keeping as appropriate.
Requirements:
Master's degree and 3-5 years of combined experience in industry and academia OR Ph.D with 0-3 years of experience in academia / industry.
Candidates with a background in Cancer Biology and cell metabolism will be preferred.
Candidates with hands-on prior experience in some of the techniques such as 3D cell models, co-culture systems, flow cytometry (FACS), mitochondrial assays, western blotting, ELISA, qPCR will be preferred.
Proficient in scientific computer programs including Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism.
Excellent communication skills and experience in research data presentations at scientific meetings.
Experience in working in a matrix environment.
