Field Application Specialist – Bioprocessing

DuPont Water & Protection, Water Solutions (DWS) is a $1.4 Bn water technology leader, focused on solving global challenges in water purification, conservation and reuse. DWS serves its thousands of customers in diverse industries through four major market segments i.e. Residential/Commercial. Industrial, Municipal, Life Sciences and Specialty using multiple technologies from its portfolio across major geographies of the world.

The need for peptides and oligonucleotides is rapidly expanding. They are widely utilized in basic research, therapeutics and diagnostic applications. As a result, there is a growing need for technical support and guidance around best practices in purification strategies. The Field Application Specialist serves as the scientific expert in the above-mentioned areas, with a focus in enabling customers to adopt reverse phase chromatography technologies. As a member of the DuPont Life Sciences technology team, the candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary matrix team that includes commercial representatives, technical service, R&D scientists, product management and marketing specialists. The successful candidate will serve as the technical expert on our Amberchrom™ portfolio, providing pre-sales product support, leading technical studies, seminars and demos, and running internal and external trainings.

Reporting into the Technology function for DuPont Water Solutions, this Field Application Specialist will be a key position focusing on top KPIs such as:

+ Increase scientist to scientist engagement with strategic and new customers

+ Boost the project pipeline of customers evaluating DuPont technology

+ Generate sales leads through technology exchanges with market

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Design lab application studies and perform and/or oversee R&D lab resources to develop and troubleshoot separation protocols to solve purification challenges and demonstrate the product value proposition

+ Serve as a customer-facing technical expert, demonstrating intimate knowledge of DuPont’s separation product portfolio and familiarity with priorities, challenges and trends in the field to demonstrate the value-in-use of the DuPont resin technology

+ Responsible for identifying new opportunities and highlighting gaps and opportunities for the current portfolio

+ Work with internal teams to develop and update applications and educational content for customer training in the form of videos, seminars, training manuals, journal articles, etc.

+ Deliver scientific seminars, host roundtable discussions, and lead hands on workshops, demos, and trainings

+ Serve as liaison between customers, commercial team, R&D and production management

+ Represent the Life Sciences division of DuPont Water Solutions at conferences and vendor shows to present products and gather customer feedback

+ Miscellaneous duties as assigned

Role Requirements:

+ PhD degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Analytical Sciences or related Life Sciences discipline or MS degree with 10+ years of relevant experience

+ 5+ years of hands on experience in reverse phase chromatography (RP HPLC) for oligonucleotide or peptide purification

+ 3+ years of hands on experience in preparative scale liquid chromatography (LC)

+ Ability to travel up to 50% of time (regional and international)

+ Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills are required

+ Ability to prioritize responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience working at company or division focused on oligonucleotide or peptide production for commercial purposes

+ Understanding of the economics of industrial downstream purification processes
