ChristianaCare is looking for a Nurse Practitioner for our department of Interventional Radiology to function in a collaborative environment with physicians in the direct care of patients within the Department of Radiology at both Christiana and Wilmington hospitals. Performs procedures as needed to include but not limited to Disc exchange, drain management, paracentesis, lumbar punctures and other procedures as allowed by licensure and credentialing. The hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm with possible weekend rotation. No holidays.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as liaison for patients, families, and health professionals.
Provide care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed including examination, ordering, reviewing and addressing lab results, and diagnostic studies as well as initiate or modify pharmacologic therapy.
Provide and manage care of patients within agreed upon protocols by physicians and nursing pre and post procedure.
Consults with physicians regarding the patient's condition, diagnosis and treatment plan, medication orders and need for alternate dispositions if necessary.
Initiates referrals to appropriate resources and services, promoting a collaborative approach to patient care.
Perform paracentesis, lumbar puncture.
MRI Moderate sedation provider
Approve IR cases for schedule.
Perform follow up studies.
Make decisions and act independently within established guidelines with minimal supervision.
Provide effective oral and written communications while protecting confidentiality of both patients and staff.
Utilize teaching/learning principles coupled with an expert clinical knowledge to promote and provide education to the staff, patient, and patient's family.
Provides formal and informal radiology related in-services and educational programs in which expert knowledge base is shared with staff.
Respond appropriately to sensitive situations involving patients, staff and others.
Provide leadership to all levels of CCHS staff.
Have knowledge of and adherence to all CCHS safety policies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
3-5 years of related clinical nursing experience
Current RN Licensure and Advanced Nurse Practitioner Licensure as set forth by the Delaware board of Nursing.
Prescriptive authority required.
Certification by the appropriate national organization for area of specialty preferred
Certification in BCLS, ACLS, PALS
Credentialed in paracentesis, lumbar procedures and moderate sedation within 6 months of hire
