Job Description

The Clinical Floor Supervisor (CFS) coordinates and supervises the care provided by a designated group of Medical Assistants (MAs), ensuring that they adhere to Westside’s standards and procedures in all aspects of their work. The CFS may also assess patient health problems and needs, maintain medical records, advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, coordinate with other members of the patient care teams and act as a clinical resource for the team.

Westside Family Healthcare is a nonprofit organization that provides high quality primary medical care without regard to ability to pay. The Medical Assistant is responsible for initial preparation of the patient and assisting the provider during patient examinations. Responsibilities include stocking and maintenance of exam rooms, maintenance of diagnostic equipment, charting, Spanish language interpretation and patient education.


1. Schedule and monitor the performance of daily tasks by the designated MA group to ensure they are working in accordance with Westside’s standards, policies and procedures

2. Remain present throughout the clinical sessions to provide guidance and training as needed to the MA team

3. Work with Human Resources and the Manager of Clinical Operations to complete the MA group’s timesheets, performance evaluations, performance improvement plans and formal corrective actions documentation when needed

4. Work with other Clinical Floor Supervisors to complete the weekly MA staffing schedule, monitor MA attendance and adequately communicate any and all last-minute schedule changes to all affected personnel

5. Work with other Clinical Floor Supervisors to ensure efficient patient flow during the sessions, rooming and delegating tasks as necessary to MA team members

6. Participate in the recruiting, interviewing, orientation and training of new MA team members

7. Organize and lead monthly team meetings

8. Meet with the Manager of Clinical Operations on a routine basis to ensure good communication and to address any issues or opportunities for site improvement

9. Work in conjunction with the Clinical Inventory Supervisor to order and maintain vaccine and supply inventory as needed and help keep the site compliant with The Joint Commission standards

10. Assist the MA team and providers in completing tasks when necessary

11. Maintain Medical Assistant certification and CPR/BLS certification
