Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Scientist to join our Pharmaceuticals group with our Specialty ingredients G.P. business at our at our Wilmington Research Center, Wilmington DE. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company. This position will report to the Senior Team Leader.

 

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing technical expertise regarding the development of pharmaceutical products

  • Providing technical and application development support for sales, business, marketing, manufacturing, and customers.

  • Designing, initiating and executing studies, and interpreting the study results

  • Assimilating and analyzing data into reports, posters, white papers and journal articles.

  • Preparing technical presentations for internal and external customers at customer sites, scientific conferences and trade shows.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and work in high pressure environment.

  • Maintaining lab notebooks and logbooks in accordance with company guidelines

  • Comply with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs.

 

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • BS degree in science, pharmaceutic, chemical engineering, or similar science related with 5 years minimum experience; MS degree in science, technology, engineering, or related discipline required with 3+ years of experience, or PhD degree in science, pharmaceutic, or similar science related with 2+ year minimum experience in pharmaceutical solid-dosage product/process development and manufacturing.

 

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Hands-on experience with solid dosage forms, polymer technologies and / or biologic drug delivery.

  • Fundamental understanding on pharmaceutical product development

  • Demonstrated experience working within multicultural and multifunction environment.

  • Strong written, oral presentation, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Microsoft Office Suite, and statistical analysis.

  • Organize and maintain lab area safe professional manner

  • Teamwork/interpersonal skill
