Our Translational Sciences at Incyte has been established to bridge the research findings at the Discovery and Development levels within each of our clinical programs. In collaboration with academic, clinical and industry scientists, this group develops knowledge around each of our existing programs to enable clinical evaluation of target modulation, biological changes that correlate with target modulation, as well as biomarkers or patient characteristics that could be utilized to predict response to therapy. The results are used to enrich and refine the Development program strategy as well as inform and guide future Discovery efforts.
We are looking for a motivated Scientist to join our group.
The Sr. Staff Scientist/Research Scientist (Contract), Translational Sciences (TLS), will work with their supervisor to develop a patient derived tumor explant model to support specific portfolio related hypotheses and biomarker development. The successful candidate will work with human surgical resections, perform flow and/or ELISA/MSD assays, and carry out data analysis. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to work in a collaborative laboratory environment to discover and develop robust biomarkers for use in human clinical studies.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
Process, cryopreserve, culture, and dissociate patient derived tumor materials.
Perform assays such as flow cytometry and/or ELISA/MSD.
Assimilate data and insight in real-time to recognize when an experimental approach needs to be adjusted/changed to deliver optimal results.
Troubleshoot and overcome complex problems in specialized procedures.
Incorporate proper quality controls and best practices to produce high-quality work.
Keep current with emerging trends in scientific discipline.
Understands the role of other functional areas in the laboratory and partners with them to maximize best practices and laboratory efficiencies.
Follow company safety practices, including training, lab safety, and record keeping as appropriate.
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
Bachelor, Master, or Ph.D. in molecular biology, cellular biology, or related subject area.
Experience with handling human tissue and culturing tissue or cells.
Experience with assay development using various molecular and cellular assays (e.g. flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, qPCR, and ddPCR).
Strong scientific background with practical experience, and excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Self-motivated and highly organized with ability to work on multiple projects.
Strong computer skills are essential.
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work in a team-oriented environment.
Solid understanding of cancer biology and/or immuno-oncology is highly desirable.
Experience with automated DNA/RNA extraction along with appropriate QC methods.
Experience in NGS library preparation and sequencing.
