Kelly Science is looking for a great individual to join as R&D Manager. Responsibilities of managing and leading a team of R&D Scientists to create new products and improve existing products and processes.
R&D Manager, Delaware
The work environment is typical Laboratory work where good laboratory practice is followed. The rest of the time is spent in a typical office environment. Work environment is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Area: Lab, Molecular, Diagnostics
Responsible to manages the R&D team to ensure project goals are delivered in an efficient and timely manner, while ensuring adherence to Design Control Processes and Principles.
60% of the time
+ Assigns resources to meet project and SMART goals as directed by R&D Director to meet business and marketing requirements.
+ Coordinate program status with Project Management and manufacturing teams and communicates effectively with senior management teams
30% of the time
+ Develop and validate molecular detection technologies and assays to meet market requirement, maintains brand leadership and improves competitiveness.
+ Provide technical support for manufacturing and sales support as required
5% of the time:
+ Conducts annual performance reviews in addition to on-going feedback and discussions.
+ Contribute to annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting for the department including identifying and recommending areas for improvement and opportunity
5% of the time
+ Performs technical support activities by providing technical advice to manufacturing, quality control, sales, customers, and internal technical support teams
+ Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner. – Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
+ Handles various other duties as delegated by the Director, Research & Development.
In accordance with applicable policies/procedures and Federal/State laws, may perform the following supervisory responsibilities:
+ Interviewing, hiring orienting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; enforcing all safety rules and ensuring safe work procedures
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology/ Molecular biology or related field required.
+ Master’s Degree in a Microbiological discipline with greater than ten 10 years experience or a PhD with greater than ten 5 years working experience, or equivalent education and work experience preferred.
+ Experience in a professional laboratory at management and strategic levels with practical and working knowledge of the following:
+ Molecular biology, Microbial detection methods, Basic enzymology, Health and Safety
+ Current developments on market
+ Manufacturing expertise
+ Prior managerial experience required.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat required.
+ Working knowledge of statistical methodologies
+ Good understanding of our customers and market
+ Working knowledge of Design Control Processes
+ Knowledge of current markets for company
+ Will be required to travel to represent company
+ May occasionally work evenings and/or weekends.
