This position located in Newark,Delaware will lead research laboratory operations including project management, resource management, and performance of experimental work, development and implementation of experimental protocols, workflow, financial management and supervision of staff.
Direct the laboratory set up and operation, including ongoing implementation of new technologies and methodologies
Manage laboratory staff to perform experimental studies and ensure all NYBC Standards are maintained.
Lead implementation of new methods and technologies in the laboratory.
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines; oversee equipment needs and accurate record keeping.
Oversee Project management including appropriate resources, budget, timelines and personnel.
Ensure experiments and procedures at NYBC are performed to confirm validity of methods in scientific literature and /or provided by collaborators.
Ensure grant/contract requirements and experimental studies within the laboratory are carried out appropriately and in a timely manner.
Ensure quality control procedures are established as applicable for each project.
Prepare and implement laboratory operation budget in collaboration with the laboratory head.
Work with business development to facilitate preparation of materials such as contracts, business plans and presentations.
Preparation of materials for presentation and/or publication.
Presentation of scientific data, internal and external
Work with scientists and other staff to participate in the design and modification of research protocols, stay current with relevant literature, and contribute to paper- and grant-writing including assistance with budget preparation and submission.
Collaborate with other researchers within NYBCe as well as external collaboration to further develop expertise in the field transfusion medicine, non-malignant hematology and related fields.
PhD in Biomedical Science or Biology or Chemistry or Engineering or equivalent field required.
Minimum five years of experience in biomedical/pharmaceutical science including leadership abilities. Knowledge of cGxP environment preferred.
Knowledge of Materials and Technology Transfer related to transitioning of research techniques into cGMP production methods and start-up of existing or new processes at internal and external manufacturing facilities.
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, GraphPad Prism and general analytical methods
Experience in participating and leading cross-functional teams.
