We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel, to work within the Realogy Franchise Group Legal Department. The Realogy Franchise Group includes Realogy’s franchised brands as well as the shared services functions of franchise sales, contract administration and finance. This position is based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Madison, NJ and is remote.
The Legal Counsel is responsible for reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and providing advice to our brands on franchise sales and renewals, addenda to existing agreements, ongoing rights and obligations under agreements, and day-to-day counseling to the business clients. In particular, this role will provide advice on complex transactions with sophisticated franchisees, including providing advice on financing, equity investments, and subordination agreements.
This person will work closely with the shared service departments that support the Realogy Franchise Group franchised brands, such as the Franchise Sales, Contract Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Compliance. Counsel the Senior Leadership Teams of the brands on high level legal and strategic matters.
Provide legal support to the brands on new product development, marketing programs, vendor contract review, franchisee disputes, and franchisee compliance. The role will interface and coordinate with corporate legal functions such as Litigation, IT, Intellectual Property, and Employment Law.
+ Drafting and negotiating franchise and related documents to help the business attain growth and retention goals
+ Providing expert advice to the company on laws, rules and regulations affecting the business
+ Consulting on ways to achieve business success while minimizing risk
+ Partnering with the business on key critical initiatives
+ Proactively identifying and communicating potential issues early on
+ Thought leadership on continuous process improvement opportunities
+ Steadfast focus on reinforcing the best interests of the company
+ JD Degree from an accredited law school
+ Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, at least 3 years of franchise law experience, both domestic and international
+ Significant experience with sophisticated commercial transactions
+ In-house legal experience preferred
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to work independently and interact well with all staff and all levels of management
+ Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
+ Detailed understanding of franchise laws and regulations
+ Consultative approach to supporting business objectives while mitigating risk
+ High degree of integrity, respect and dedication to the company’s values
+ Positive, “can do” demeanor
