Serve as key contributor within R&D organization to create next generation, connected, materials characterization instrumentation. Analyze user requirements and design automation systems to control processes. Responsible for product development, experimental design, root cause analysis and oversight of projects. Work collaboratively with project team members from research, manufacturing and materials science groups from product inception-point to commercialization as products progress through the development cycle. Utilize linear systems and adaptive control development experience (PID development) to develop state estimators, Kalman filters. Create model-based designs and generate code. Translate control algorithms into efficient C or C++. Generate Prototype, proof of concept and system integration. Design systems using integrated components consisting of mechanical design in combination with any of the following: electronics, software communication, electrical, RFID, sensors and system recognition capabilities. Required Education: Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field (or foreign degree equivalent). Required Experience: At least 4 years of experience in product design, development, and transfer of new products into a manufacturing environment. Required Skills: At least 4 years of experience with model-based design and code generation using MATLAB (Simulink, Simulink RealTime or StateFlow); At least 4 years of experience with Linear systems and adaptive control development experience for developing State Estimators, Kalman Filters and PID development; At least 4 years of experience with 3D design and modelling using ProE-Creo, Solidworks or similar modelling platform; At least 4 years of experience with distributed controls and internal communications using SPI, I2C, USB, Ethercat, CANBus and Vector CANTools; At least 4 years of experience with prototype generation, proof of concept and system integration; At least 4 years of experience with real-time embedded programming & controls including servo-controls and digital signal processing; At least 4 years of experience with C or C++; At least 4 years of experience with real time operating systems (Intime or FreeRTOS); At least 4 years of experience with FPGA design and simulation; At least 2 years of experience with instrument communications using TCP/IP, USB and HTTP.M-F, 9-5. $118,680.00/year.
