Summary:
Meta is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join our Data Center Facilities Engineering team. Our team ensures that Meta’s highly reliable data center environment is supported with effective cooling and power. Our data centers leverage adiabatic cooling processes with evaporative water systems that require careful chemical treatment for continued operation. This role presents an opportunity to work with cutting edge technology and to push efficiency forward for the industry. The ideal candidate shall be able to work broadly, leading critical projects cross-functionally, as well as work independently through deep dives and technical analyses.
Required Skills:
Data Center Facilities Engineering, Chemical Engineer Responsibilities:
1. Support chemical engineering activities and projects for the Data Center Facility Engineering team. Including working cross-functionally with design teams, construction, field operations, sustainability team, and vendors
2. Aid in troubleshooting and establishing corrective actions for operational issues
3. Conduct regular analyses and audits of mechanical and water system utilization
4. Provide guidance to facility engineers on operational optimization and correction of any issues they are experiencing
5. Develop effective measurements and reports from BMS and other monitoring systems to increase performance and reliability
6. Review as-built mechanical documentation and verify accuracy
7. Investigate actual site conditions and update records
8. Help develop retrofit procedures and trainings. Help develop specifications, scopes of work, and RFPs for retrofit projects
9. Evaluate facility processes and industry best practices to drive efficiencies and effectiveness. Seek continual improvement
10. Travel to Data Center sites for various projects including: engineering studies, water systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning
11. Travel approximately 30%
Minimum Qualifications:

12. BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or another related field
13. 2+ years operational experience with water treatment systems
14. Knowledge of water distribution systems, including reverse osmosis (RO) plants and pretreatment processes (water softening and filtration)
15. Knowledge of fluid handling systems and water distribution equipment
16. Experience with communicating technical issues clearly
17. Experience correlating incoming water quality to operational issues

18. 4+ years operational experience with water treatment systems
19. Knowledge of complementary critical facility systems including electrical power distribution and life safety systems
20. Experience with HVAC systems, chilled water systems, condenser water systems, pump controls, Glycols, AHU units (DX, split, RTU, CRAC), and hot/cold aisle containment
21. Knowledge of evaporative cooling and water requirements through different mass transfer methods
22. Knowledge navigating Building Management System programs (Alerton and Siemens)
23. Project Management experience
24. In depth troubleshooting and analytical experience
