Black & Veatch is looking for a dedicated team of professionals to support the project management, project controls, procurement management, engineering, and construction oversight for multiple greenfield and brownfield projects for transmission lines, high voltage substations and distribution projects in Puerto Rico . Although not indispensable for the roles, Professionals Engineers licensed in Puerto Rico, and professionals fluent in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply. The projects will be executed by teams working in the USA and physically on site in Puerto Rico . We are looking for candidates for both locations.

Your Key Responsibilities…
In this role you will be working in an entry level substation design engineering capacity. Under close supervision, you will perform substation design engineering functions requiring knowledge and experience in engineering principles. This level builds on experience gained as an Engineer 1 by either obtaining more depth in specific subject area with the expectation that assignments are larger and more complex, or by gaining experience in more subject areas.
? Applyknowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures.
Quality / Continuous Improvement:
? Continues developing knowledge and complies with Black and Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks.
? Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
? Prepares and verifies less complex engineering substation design deliverables , such as one-lines, connection diagrams, panel elevations and protection & control schematics, RTU control, status and analog point lists, raceway/cable schedules along with maintenance/signage and nameplates.
? Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
? Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
? Prepares engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Examples: lightning protection, conduit fill, AC/DC station service loading, surge arrester sizing and voltage drop, auxiliary power equipment.
? Review shop drawings, vendor quotes and perform bid evaluations.
? Develop construction release documents.
? Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
? Seek out supervisor or project leadership to share information and gain guidance regarding details of design and interdisciplinary coordination.
? Coordinates with others as assigned by supervisor or project leadership.
? Focuses on the needs of internal clients while gaining an understanding of external client’s main interests and drivers.
Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology:
? Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
? Substation Design – Physical and/or Protection & Control (P&C)
? Basic knowledge of engineering design principles (preferably in high voltage substation design ) and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline
? Basic knowledge of one-lines, connection diagrams, panel elevations and protection & contro l schematics for power substation equipment.
? Basic knowledge of performing calculations for equipment sizing.
? Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
? Minimum of 1-year related work experience.
