Our Research Laboratories’ Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for postdoctoral researchers that is designed with an academic focus in an industrial environment. With the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company, postdoctoral researchers will be positioned to excel in an institution committed to breakthrough innovation in research and discovery.

At South San Francisco, our new multi-disciplinary discovery research site offers state-of- the-art resources to explore the most promising science combined with our company’s world-class Research & Development expertise in small molecules.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow that is passionate about working collaboratively across the company’s scientific network, geographical sites, and departments, particularly from the the department of Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism and sub-department groups that include Bioanalytical, Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion & Discovery Toxicology, and Quantitative Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics groups to advance our translational science capabilities to better understand the potential for drug-drug interactions in patients with dyslipidemia, hypertension, and/or diabetes. Role includes design, coordination, and interpretation of preclinical pharmacokinetic experiments in various wide-ranging disease models to generate drug-drug interactions data and to compare those data to patients’ data to establish correlations. To establish those correlations, the fellow will gain experience with software tools of the trade such as WinNonlin and R. Further, data from wide-ranging preclinical model and clinical patient data, by accessing databases and literature, will be utilized to build physiological-based pharmacokinetic models to harness all data and predict future drug-drug interactions risk. A strong focus will be scientific and professional development, as well as publication. The position is intended to last 2-3 years.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Work in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment with a multifunctional team of scientists

+ Design, coordinate, analyze, and summarize data from pharmacokinetic experiments in wide-ranging preclinical models.

+ Utilize model data to compose physiological-based pharmacokinetic models to predict human drug-drug interactions risk
